For better or for worse, these missions to gather materials and crystals and such within the bowels of that abomination of the alternate dimension they somehow had access to were becoming more and more commonplace. The necessity for the materials was growing, but Yuina still had little idea of what they were actually for and what the league was working on... Did it matter? On such a small scale, she wasn't sure that it made a difference to her... But if she thought about it more, shouldn't she care about putting her life on the line for something that wasn't benefiting her in anyway? It seemed... a bit much to consider, and she tried not to think too hard about it, of course not everything in life needed to be for her direct benefit... But still... It wasn't the time or place.[break][break]
Instead it was time for another mission, and she and a partner disembarked into the toxic caverns. Knowing that more of these missions were likely on the horizon, Yuina was pleased that she was able to prepare a little bit better each time, and have some different Pokemon to assist.[break]
"This looks like a good spot to get started? We'll start with this cluster," Yuina said, breaking the silence of the otherwise abysmal environment, anything to keep the intruisve toxins, the intruisve thoughts, at bay. Swann the Aegislash started to hack away at the crystaline structure while Yuina worked with a pick, starting to mine out some of the materials they'd come down for.

There was a part of him that protested the thought of splitting the exposure to radiation with a young, seemingly delicate looking woman— otherwise known as his old fashioned, knightly instinct.

But the part that had been to the caverns enough times to know that attempting to shoulder the brunt of the radiation without even possessing a Sygna suit of his own was idiotic and ill advised, otherwise known as his Common sense, won out.

"Very well. Please, don't hesitate to speak up if you are feeling ill, young lady." He said, bearing the weight of a large drill on his shoulder as he marched towards the ore veins. "Our eagerness to exploit such rare resources is... admirable, in a sense, but I question our methods."

And by 'our', he referred to the League, of which he hesitantly counted himself part of now.

He just hoped all these young workers were being adequately compensated for exposing themselves to such dangers.

Ah well— his three pokemon, a Gallade, an Aegislash, and a pickaxe totting, hard-hat wearing Riolu, joined the man and Yuina in mining the ore, the little Riolu's bright yellow hat rocking back and forth over its eyes with each swing of the pickaxe he took, much to his chagrin.

Doing their best to start gathering the resources there in front of them, Yuina worked with Swann who sliced and slashed at some of the bigger pieces of crystal so that she could mine out the smaller more important bits to take away. Her partner spoke and just tried to encourage that they were working together, which was a nice fall back, she would be sure to say so if she felt like she needed to.[break][break]

That whisper... she froze after he'd posed his wonderings about their methods of gathering these resources... She was doing this for the league, for the good of the region... That was the right thing to do, right?[break][break]

"Uh... Uhm, yeah... I guess its really important that they figure out how powerful these crystals are and what kind of energy they hold," Yuina returned then, trembling a little... She didn't want to turn and find that... Thing... That shadow, that only emerged in this terrible place, coming up behind her... So she focused the best that she could on the crystals in front of her, starting to put a cluster of them in the bag she had with her.

Unaware of the inner turmoil his companion was going through, the blonde nodded as he hammered his pickaxe into the ore vein.

"Indeed." He agreed. "Still, exposing civilians to these dangers, volunteers or not, seems inadvisable."

His past 3 experiences inside the titans' guts had all finished on an alarming note. And he was, well, himself! He was extremely capable in a fight, if he said so himself.

He couldn't imagine how it might be going for the less prepared.

Even now, the hairs on the back of his neck were standing on end.

"... Are you feeling unwell?" He asked suddenly, keen eyes noting the young woman's trembling. "Should we make our way back?"

She couldn't know what it was in this place that brought out what felt like the worst in her, the paranoia, the fear, that thing... It was like it was a part of her somehow, but she never knew why, what it meant, and she certainly never wanted to stick around in this place long enough to find out either...[break]
"No... I uh, I'm okay, really... This place is pretty terrible, but making the trips short helps...," Yuina returned, every trip down to this place was different, there was no telling how long she could last before things really got bad... But she likely wouldn't have to wait to find out for long.[break][break]
There was a shadowy hiss that came to them through the caverns, sickly purple wisps lighting up a corridor, and from it stepped a sinister looking monster with piercing red eyes and a magic swirling around it that looked far too powerful to be contained... It howled at them, its call haunting and its power clear as it stood to attack, and Swann rushed forward with her shield drawn back, slashing through with a Night Slash attack. It seemed that their time may be cut short, if this thing didn't go down, they would have to make haste to the exit for sure.

She wasn't acting okay, but there also didn't seem to be anything wrong with her... He would just have to keep a closer eye on—

"Tch." Came a click of the tongue as the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, a familiar, unlikeable sensation that past trips had conditioned into him. "We've unfortunate company."

His pokemon were already moving to stand besides them, Raki and Gawain standing guard as his Aegislash, Galatine, joined the young lady's own in a combined assault, appearing from Swann's own shadow to strike at the creature with extreme prejudice reserved only for the imaginary beings found within the skelleton's cavernous innards.

tl;dr
-Aegislash used Shadow Sneak on what'sitsface.
-Battle a fusion Pokemon.

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.

With the cover given by her partner's two Pokemon, and both of the swords having at the monstrosity that came at them through the cavern, it was just enough time and just enough cover to gather up everything that she had mined out from the crystals.[break]
"Unfortunate is a very kind word for these monsters. I think it's time to go while we can," Yuina returned, panicked still, but relieved all the same. The quicker they got out, the less likely she was to run into that... that thing, that shadow that found her down here in this place.[break][break]
Hoisting up the bag of crystal and other materials she had gathered, Yuina started to hurry towards their escape, hoping that they had just enough time to do so before something else may come at them through the fogs and mists.
